The Weather ~a report by Caitlin (6th)

The weather is a farmers worst enemy. What is important is sun, rain, wind and frost. Their uses are needed in different times because what the sun does is it warms the soil and ripens crops. But it could also cause a drought. The rain gives our crops water, but to much rain can make the crops rot.

A little bit of wind is ideal during slurry agitation and a warm wind is also ideal for wilting grass for when making hay. But a heavy gust of wind can cause damage to buildings and trees to fall. The frost helps break down the soil after the fields have been ploughed. But growing crops wouldn’t benefit from a blanket of ice.
