Victorian Domestic Servants Jobs ~a report by Sarah (6th)

In 1891 women and girls severed as Victorian servants were responsibly for cleaning the houses of rich victorian people.She had to do a lot of these jobs away from the family so in some big victorian houses such as Muckross house in Killarney Co.Kerry ,they built hidden pages that led from one room to another out of the family way.They also had bells in the cellar of the house that connected to each room so if someone needed help in one of the rooms they just pull the bell and the servant will come.She got up really early and had to stay under a very strict routine to get things done.Her jobs included cleaning the house, scrubbing and sweeping the floors, brining hot water ,coal and breakfast upstairs, doing the laundry ,working in the gardens and cooking meals.
