Henri Matisse 

Henri Matisse was a French visual artist. He was born on the 31st of December 1869 and died on the 3rd of November in 1954. He died at the age of 84. Henri Matisse was born in Le Cateau-Cambresis, France. He grew up in Bohain-en-Vermandois, Picardy, France, where his parents owned a flower business.   In 1887 he went to Paris to study law, working as a court administrator in Le Cateau-Cambrésis after gaining his qualification.

He first started to paint in 1889, after his mother brought him art supplies during a period of convalescence following an attack of appendicitis.

Diagnosed with abdominal cancer in 1941, Matisse underwent surgery that left him reliant on a wheelchair and often bedbound. He found it very hard to paint and to sculpt. With the help of his assistants, he began creating cut paper collages.

I like his art work because i liked the way nothing would stop him from doing Art, not

even cancer.
