The War of Independence

The war of Independence started in 1919 and ended in 1921. The war was also known as the Anglo-Irish War. It was a guerrilla war fought in Ireland between the Irish Republican Army and the British Army. Micheal Collins who fought in the 1916 Easter Rising, took charge of the IRA. He used money from Fenian groups to buy arms for his army.

Henri Matisse 

Henri Matisse was a French visual artist. He was born on the 31st of December 1869 and died on the 3rd of November in 1954. He died at the age of 84. Henri Matisse was born in Le Cateau-Cambresis, France. He grew up in Bohain-en-Vermandois, Picardy, France, where his parents owned a flower business.   In 1887 he went to Paris to study law, working as a court administrator in Le Cateau-Cambrésis after gaining his qualification.

John Redmond- A fact file by Danny (6th)

John Redmond, born on the 01/09/1856 and died on the 06/03/1918 was an Irish nationalist politician, Barrister, and MP in the House of Commons of the UK. He was mostly known as the leader of the moderate Irish Parliamentary Party. From 1900 to his death in 1918, he was also the leader of the paramilitary organisation, the Irish National Volunteers.
